RECRUIT Tom Bugg says Melbourne isn’t getting carried away with its impressive start to 2016, after it won its second NAB Challenge match from as many matches on Sunday.

Melbourne produced a come-from-behind 12-point win over the Western Bulldogs at Highgate Recreation Reserve in Craigieburn, on the back of its 19-point victory over Port Adelaide at Elizabeth last weekend.

Bugg said it was a strong comeback from his side after it trailed by 19 points late in the third quarter.

“We know it’s the NAB Challenge, so we’ve got to build that winning culture and that’s what we’re trying to do this year,” Bugg told Dee TV.

“If we can take that momentum into the season, then it really sets us up well.

“It was a good deck and good weather, so perfect conditions to play in and it was a very good win.

“Two weeks in a row, we’ve come from behind to win and it just shows what we’ve been doing over the summer. We fight through tough times like that and it’s good to get couple of wins in a row.”

Bugg said his side was “doing a lot right”, even if it overused the footy at times.

“We stuck to our structures and stuck to how we wanted to move the footy and by doing that it made it easier to pick them (the Bulldogs) apart and go forward and kick a couple of goals,” he said.

“I’d rather be up five goals going into the last quarter, but we knew that if we were down that it didn’t really matter.

“We were going with the wind in the last quarter and we knew if we put on forward pressure and were tough in the contest that things would open up. We were able to kick goals and eventually get a win.”

Bugg, who had 22 touches against the Bulldogs, said he had loved every minute at the club so far.

“I’ve been playing that wing role, so it makes it easy for when the boys when it inside to use it on the outside,” he said.

“I’ve just been trying to earn respect through being tough at the contest and with tackles.

“I’ve just got to continue to do that, so the boys trust me.”
