Kicking into the wind, Melbourne were able to get off to the ideal start when Daisy Pearce cleverly found Jessica Dal Pos inside 50. The small forward kicked truly to give Melbourne an early lead.

But from there, the Bulldogs capitalised on the strong wind advantage, with spearhead Moana Hope kicking three goals.

Melbourne settled things late in the quarter, with skipper Pearce a calming influence off half back.

With a heavy wind at its back, Melbourne dominated proceedings early in the second quarter.

However, the Demons were unable to make the advantage count on the scoreboard, with inaccurate kicking proving costly.

Melbourne broke through late in the quarter when Madeleine Boyd ran onto a loose ball inside 50 and dribbled the goal home.

Daisy Pearce and Ellie Blackburn were among the major ball winners for the quarter as Melbourne kept the Bulldogs scoreless.

The Bulldogs took advantage of the wind early, using the ball cleanly and effectively moving forward.

Consecutive goals to Bianca Jakobsson extended the Bulldogs' lead to 20 points, with Darcy Vescio kicking another.

A late goal to Sarah D'Arcy kept Melbourne in it, with the forward taking a strong mark and converting the set shot.
