KALANI White has nominated Melbourne as his preferred club, with the Demons also committing to the father-son prospect ahead of the 2025 AFL Draft.

White, the son of former 236-gamer Jeff, could join the red and blue later this year, adding to the rich history between Melbourne and the White family name.

Standing at 198cm tall, the 18-year-old is highly regarded for his aerial presence, athleticism and versatility, allowing him to play both in the ruck and up forward.

He kicked two goals on debut for the Casey Demons earlier this year, one of two games the son of a gun played for Melbourne’s VFL affiliate.

“Kalani is obviously someone we’ve been following for some time, and we’re delighted that he has chosen us,” Melbourne’s National Recruiting Manager Jason Taylor said.

“We understand there is still a process to go through via the AFL Draft, where all 18 clubs have the ability to bid on potential father-sons and NGA prospects, but we’re hopeful of welcoming Kalani later this year.

“His versatility is a standout; he has shown positive development at both ends of the ground, as well as in the ruck. Combined with his athleticism, we’re excited by his future growth.

"The way Kalani is progressing in his footy is really impressive, and that’s credit to him and the amount of work he has put in.”

Father Jeff joined Melbourne ahead of the 1998 season, having first been selected by Fremantle with the No.1 selection in the 1994 Draft. He tallied 268 games and 113 goals across a career that spanned 13 seasons.
