MELBOURNE’S 2027 Toyota AFL Premiership season has dropped and it’s shaping up to be a blockbuster instalment for Dees fans.
The first half of the year will see the Dees host six games at their beloved MCG, kicking off with a Bombers battle in Round 1 on Sunday 21 March.

During Round 5, the famous Irish jig will make its Friday night debut with the fan-favourite Jim’s Game locked in for April 16 against Sydney. The MCG will undergo its annual Irish takeover in honour of the late Jim Stynes, with funds raised from the game going directly to the Jim Stynes Foundation.
Jim’s Game will be one of three Demon matches scheduled under Friday night lights, with Melbourne also making its return to Thursday footy in 2027, locked in for two matches against Fremantle and the Western Bulldogs.
Melbourne Football Club CEO Dan Taylor highlighted a series of blockbusters and a strong broadcast schedule as key wins for fans.
“2027 is shaping up to be a hell of a year for our players and fans,” Taylor said.
“We welcome the return of our traditional blockbuster home games, with the Demons set to host Richmond and Collingwood for both the ANZAC Day Eve and King’s Birthday clashes next season.
“We are also really excited to harness the Irish spirit under Friday night lights in Round 5.
“With 10 of our first 16 games broadcast on free-to-air television, and six of those games in marquee slots at night, we have a fantastic opportunity to take Demon Football to a broader audience, connect with new fans and grow our supporter base right across the country.
“Whilst we are disappointed that we don’t have more MCG games, this fixture still offers plenty of home-ground action for our members to look forward to.”
Melbourne families will have plenty of opportunity to enjoy Dees footy with five of the six home matches scheduled in family-friendly time slots, including three games at 3:15pm, a time given Demon cult-status thanks to an impressive win-loss ratio last season.
The fixture is also a win for members from across Australia, with the Dees locked in for eight interstate matches throughout the year.
The season will see three trips to Adelaide including the Gather Round clash against Carlton, two trips to Sydney and Perth, along with a singular trip to Alice Springs, with the Dees returning to the Red Centre for their annual Heart of the Nation match.
With five games hosted by Fox Footy, a Dees digital membership is the best way to catch the action live from your TV or phone. Melbourne members and supporters can now mark their calendars in preparation for the first 16 matches of next year, download the 2027 fixture here.
The Round 17 to 24 opponents have also been revealed, with specific fixture details to remain floating until later next year.
