Ins: Jackson

Outs: McDonald

Jackson returns

After making four changes last week, the Demons have opted for just one swap in Round 7.

Youngster Luke Jackson has been included in the side set to face Hawthorn, for what will be his second game in the red and blue.

Jackson, who stands at 198cm tall, made his debut back in Round 2 and will be eager to have a big impact at GIANTS Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The ones that missed

As announced on Thursday, the Dees have taken a cautious approach with Tom McDonald, following last weekend’s injury to his eye.

Nathan Jones, Adam Tomlinson, Alex Neal-Bullen and Joel Smith were all named on Round 7’s extended bench, but haven’t able to find their spot in the final side.

Despite this, all four have been made emergencies.

What it means

Recording a crucial win against Gold Coast last weekend, Melbourne will be approaching this match with just as much attack.

The Demons will be very hungry to get a consecutive victory on the board, continuing to build on their form, decision-making and connection across the ground.

They’ll also be looking to make it two from two in Sydney, before heading to Queensland next week.

Look out for

The forward structure will again be a focus for the Dees in Round 7.

Having welcomed Sam Weideman back last weekend, Melbourne’s trial of a taller forward line was short lived, due to McDonald’s early injury.

Weideman managed two goals from seven disposals and did plenty to bring his teammates into the game, but could really benefit from some more support.

And with Jackson being a like-for-like swap for McDonald, the pair will be damaging if they can execute their roles.

Oppo watch

Hawthorn will be keen to get back on the winners’ list in Round 7, following defeats to GWS and Collingwood in the past two rounds.

The Hawks find themselves in 13th position on the ladder, while the Demons sit in 15th, with this match another must-win for both clubs.

The two teams will also be wanting to put on a show for fans, with the game to be played in front of a small crowd at GIANTS Stadium.
