DESPITE sharing a name with an existing AFLW player and only being four games into her football career, Melbourne’s Jordyn Allen is making a name for herself.
Drafted to the Dees at the end of 2025 with pick No.16, Allen entered the AFLW as a reserved person, understated off the field, but oozing flair on the field.
Now, 10 months into life as a professional footballer, Allen has been recognised for her talents, named the Round 4 Telstra AFLW Rising Star nominee.
"I love it, I'm very lucky to be at the Dees," Allen says.
“All the girls are really good to me, the coaches really support me and they all help me be the best player and person I can be.”

Allen debuted for the Dees in Round 1 and hasn’t looked out of place, slotting in seamlessly to Melbourne’s backline.
The 18-year-old provides composure off half back, her skills well beyond her years.
Like many, she grew up playing footy with the boys at Heathmont’s junior club, before joining their girls’ team.
It’s a pathway that many players haven't had in the past, but one that’s been important for Allen in her short but impressive career.
“My older brother played at Heathmont and I'd watch and run water for him,” Allen says.
“Then I started playing when I was seven years old in the boys team, and then when they started a girls team, I joined that.
Allen still hasn’t seen a loss in the red and blue, with the Dees remaining undefeated as they enter into Round 5.
The Demon says they’re still just taking it one week at a time, purposefully not thinking ahead to Round 7 when they face the back-to-back premiers, North Melbourne.
“We're doing well and I’m very proud of our group,” Allen says.
“It's good energy, good vibes but we try not to worry about [external chat] too much and just take it week by week.
"This weekend’s game should be a good one, I'm excited to get back and play at home.
"I love Casey Fields because it feels like a family venue, we have lots of pop-up shops and when the sun's out and there’s no wind, it's a nice day out.”
