JUST two weeks after returning from an ACL injury, Jake Lever was taken from the field during his VFL hit-out for the Casey Demons on Sunday.

The key defender suffered an ankle injury during the early stages of his side’s clash with Williamstown, but Elite Performance Manger David Misson said there is no major concern around his fitness.

“Jake rolled his ankle during the second quarter yesterday,” Misson told Melbourne Media.

“He was taken off and sat out the rest of the game, but that was more just as a precaution.”

The 23-year-old was looking to get some match fitness under his belt after 11 months on the sideline, but the minor hiccup in his second game back shouldn’t halt his progress too much.

“He’s pulled up pretty well from it so there’s no major concern there,” Misson said.

“He had scans this morning and they came back all clear, so we’ll monitor him throughout the week and assess him before this week's game.”
