TWO star Demon’s trained with the main group on Thursday morning, while one was missing in action ahead of Round 16.

Max Gawn didn’t appear on the track as he continues to rest his ankle with the hope to play against Carlton on Sunday, but Neville Jetta and Jake Lever both impressed on Gosch’s Paddock.

Lever has been sidelined with bone bruising since he copped a knock to his knee on Queen’s Birthday, but he’s finally ready to return after a frustrating run with injury.

“My knee’s been pretty good for a week or so now, so it’s good to get a week under my belt in training,” Lever told Melbourne Media.

“And now I’ve had a normal week, so I’m really excited to play this week.”

But the 23-year-old won’t be lining up against the Blues, as he is set to make his comeback via the Casey Demons.

“I’ve had a pretty interrupted six weeks now,” Lever said.

“I’m hoping to only play the one game in the VFL and just get some confidence and then hopefully have a good last six or seven games and take some confidence into pre-season.”

Lever will be gaining some match fitness at the lower level before putting his hand up to play a 13th career game for the Dees the next round.

“I just want to get back out there and play on the AFL stage,” he said.

“That’s what I’ve wanted to do since I hurt myself 14/15 months ago.

“The last six weeks hasn’t been ideal, so making sure I at least get 100/120 minutes under my belt playing VFL footy, and then hoping to be ready next week.”

Lever will be playing alongside Jetta in the reserves on Saturday, as the Demons’ vice-captain also looks to return from a knee injury.

Jetta has been out of action since Round 5 but will be playing limited minutes in his first game back, before also pushing for a senior recall in the coming weeks.

In other positive news from the track, injured duo Kade Chandler and Declan Keilty ran out the full session and should boost Casey’s side against the Northern Blues.
