THE 2026 Continental Tyres Trade Period has come to a close with the Demons welcoming three new players into their four walls.
Following last night’s final trade moves, Tim Lamb, the club’s AFL List Manager, sat down to reflect on the club’s decisions and what the new Demons will provide heading into season 2027.

Zane Duursma – North Melbourne
“Zane is a really exciting young player who we believe has an enormous amount of upside,” Lamb said.
"He is extremely skilful, has terrific athleticism and can play in multiple roles.
“During his draft year, he played some games with Casey and did a fair bit of training with us, so we’ve always had a high opinion of Zane and have tracked his career really closely.
“He called us and said he wanted to come [to the Dees]. To have someone of his talent reach out to us in a direct manner was great, and it says a fair bit about our program, so we’re stoked to have him on board.”
Will McLachlan – Brisbane
“Will’s a mid-season selection, and he was a standout for us at that time,” Lamb said.
“We rated him the most talented player not playing regular AFL football, his ability to score is really strong and he’s shown some versatility across the year as well.
“At just 21 years of age, we believe he can be a real asset for our football club, and we’re excited about his future with us.”
Bodie Ryan – Hawthorn
“Bodie is a highly competitive young defender who plays with great intensity and isn't afraid to take the game on,” Lamb said.
“He provides plenty of run and carry out of defence and has the versatility to play on a range of different forwards.
“He gained some valuable AFL experience this year and played an important role in Box Hill's VFL Premiership.
“We see plenty of upside in Bodie and are confident he will be a great addition to our playing group. He gained valuable experience playing five senior games for a team that finished in the top four.”
