After securing a win against the Tasmania Devils in Round 1, the Casey Demons were unable to replicate the result in their penultimate match of the VFLW home and away season, going down to the Devils at Casey Fields.

The match remained tightly contested for much of the afternoon, with both sides producing strong moments in attack and defence. The Demons continued to challenge Tasmania throughout the first three quarters, before the Devils broke the game open late in the third term, kicking two quick goals to create a margin Casey was unable to overcome.

Despite the result, there were plenty of positive performances across the Demons line-up, with the side continuing to show plenty of fight and pressure throughout the contest.

Tylah Burn was outstanding in the midfield, finishing with an incredible 17 tackles as her pressure around the contest proved a constant threat to Tasmania. She also collected 16 disposals, continuing what has been a strong season for the midfielder.

Meg MacDonald was again influential around the ground, finishing with 24 disposals to equal the highest tally on the ground. She also added six clearances and six tackles as she worked hard to provide an option around the contest.

Zoe Mitchell rounded out a busy Casey midfield, recording 20 disposals and eight clearances as she continued to win plenty of the ball and drive the Demons forward.

In the ruck, Zahri Burn put together a strong performance, winning a game-high 29 hitouts. She also made an impact around the goals, taking a strong contested mark in the goal square before converting the opportunity to help the Demons on the scoreboard.

Defensively, Delany Madigan continued to put together a strong campaign, holding her own throughout a tightly contested match. One of her highlights came late in the contest with a huge chase-down tackle, showcasing the defensive pressure that has been a feature of her game.

It was also a memorable afternoon for AFLW-listed recruit Aoife Horisk, who played her first official Australian Rules Football match after joining Melbourne's AFLW program from Ireland during the preseason. Horisk showed promising signs throughout the contest, with her pace standing out as she settled into her first competitive outing.

Up forward, Tahlia Fellows had periods where she looked particularly dangerous and provided an attacking threat, while Amelia Dethridge finished with 12 disposals and continued to provide plenty of drive from half-back, helping spark several strong chains of ball movement.

The Demons now turn their attention to their final match of the season, with Sandringham awaiting next week at Casey Fields. The clash will form part of another double-header, with the VFLW side taking the field before Melbourne's AFLW match later that afternoon.
