THE DYNAMIC duo of Kysaiah and Latrelle Pickett is already turning heads on the training track as the cousins run rampant on Gosch’s Paddock.
Latrelle joined his older relative at the Demons at this November’s AFL National Draft with selection No. 12.
It all came together for the 19-year-old from Port Lincoln in 2025, moving to Adelaide to play for Glenelg and kicking five goals in three senior SANFL matches and 32 majors in 18 matches at reserves level.
General Manager of AFL Football Alan Richardson says the young Pickett will complement a more free-flowing style of football from new senior coach Steven King.
“Kingy's already been quite public about how he wants as much focus on attack as we have historically on defence. He'll complement what we do there,” Richardson said.
"Latrelle is a really creative forward, he’s a goalkicker.
“And Kozzy's a special player. What he's doing on the training track at the moment is incredible."
King is champing at the bit to unleash the Pickett partnership.
“When you say instinctively let them play.... These guys are doing things that you couldn’t draw up if you imagined it,” King said.
“To watch those two connect with each other and just wax with each other it’s been really good to watch.”
The long-time assistant and now Demons head coach is ready to bring an exciting brand of football to the MCG.
“I've probably removed a few constraints that they've had in the past and just let them rediscover their instincts and let them play with a bit of freedom at the moment,” he said.
“I want us to be a bit more exciting and flamboyant with the ball and take the game on a little bit more.
“I don't want us just to focus on contest or defense. I feel like each phase of the game is equally as important.
“In terms of connecting up forward and scoring a bit more, I'd love us to challenge the opposition a bit more with ball in hand.
“And I feel like if we do that, teams will have to play bloody well to beat us.”
