MELBOURNE Football Club’s inaugural AFLW coach Mick Stinear has added to the rich history of the club, receiving life membership at the Daisy Pearce Trophy on Sunday evening.

Melbourne Football Club CEO, Paul Guerra, congratulated Stinear on his amazing achievement, acknowledging his significant contribution over his tenure.

“We are so proud to welcome our inaugural AFLW Premiership coach as a Life Member, cementing his legacy amongst some of this game’s greats,” Guerra said.

“Throughout Mick’s tenure with the club, he’s created a culture of excellence that will resonate long after he’s left. He set lofty goals for our players and staff, and his ambition inspired our AFLW program to aspire for greatness.

“While his on-field record speaks for itself, it’s his impact off-field on the staff, players, and members he’s interacted with that will reverberate into the future.”

Stinear, who first joined the Demons in 2017, was instrumental in building the women’s program from the ground up.

Across his ten seasons, he coached an incredible 101 games, leading the club to multiple finals series and its historic first AFLW Premiership in Season 7.

This also includes a remarkable record of finishing inside the top four in eight of his ten seasons in charge.

Stinear called time with the Demons at the conclusion of the 2025 season but will leave a legacy of excellence and Demon Spirit in his wake.

The latest recipient joins Melbourne’s esteemed list of players, directors, staff and volunteers, who have all had significant impact on the club and its history.
