Narrm’s AFLW High Performance Manager Josh Keily has provided an update on the health of the program’s list.

As confirmed on Monday, Liv Purcell sustained an ACL rupture in the Demons’ Round 2 match, with Keily advising of her next course of action.

“Liv is seeing the surgeon tomorrow, and while she’s obviously extremely disappointed, in true Liv fashion she’s already focused on her recovery and next steps,” Keily said.

“It’s obviously really unfortunate news, but everyone at the club is throwing their arms around her and doing all they can to support her throughout this time.”

Blaithin Mackin was also confirmed to have sustained an injury to her MCL.

“B will also see a specialist tomorrow,” Keily explained.

“It was a grade two tear, so timelines will be dependent on the consultation with the specialist.”

Sarah Lampard withdrew from last week’s match during the warm-up and was later confirmed to have sustained a calf injury.

“Lampy sustained a grade two calf injury,” Keily said.

“Depending on how it responds in the back end of this week, that will determine what the timeline looks like exactly.”

In good news, Tahlia Gillard and Gab Colvin are both hitting positive milestones in their returns from respective MCL injuries.

“Tahlia’s brace is now off, and she went for her first run yesterday, which is exciting,” Keily said.

“We’ll still need to build up speed and change of direction, but that next phase is unlocked.

“Gab’s been ticking along in her recovery.

“She’s doing reactive change of direction, running, and increasing speed. She’s in a reload phase.”

Denby Taylor (foot) is continuing to work through her rehab program.

“With Dingo, we’re looking to build her running technique, and she’s likely to run towards Friday,” Keily said.

“She’s had to be patient, but we’ll hopefully get to the next phase of her rehab by the end of the week.”

Jacinta Hose (back) and Grace Beasley (ACL), both returning from long-term injuries, are also making progress in their respective rehab programs.

“Jacinta is starting run prep, and low level plyometrics. Her conditioning intensity has also started to increase,” Keily said.

“Grace is now moving into reactive change of direction and two-on-two drills. She’s entered into a transition phase before entering a main block of training.”
