A product of Tumby Bay near Port Lincoln, Pickett moved nearly 650km last year to Adelaide to make his AFL dream a reality.
The lightning quick forward has had a standout pre-season, proving a handful for Richmond and North Melbourne in the club’s two pre-season hitouts.
Kysaiah Pickett was present on track to break the news to his younger cousin.
“You’ve worked your ass off all pre-season,” Kysaiah Pickett said.
“We knew you had the talent. It’s a credit to you bro, to be honest.
“I’m sure everyone back home is really proud of you.”
Pickett joins a long line of exceptional First Nations talent drafted with pick No.12 in the National draft, including his cousin Kysaiah and Hawthorn's Shaun Burgoyne and Cyril Rioli.
