JAKE Melksham is set to light up the MCG again in 2026, with the Melbourne forward signing on for next AFL season.
The much-loved Demon committed to the club this week, with the one-year contract to extend his tenure at the top level to an incredible 17 seasons.
It follows a year the veteran wound back the clock and kicked 33 majors for Melbourne – his highest ever tally – across 19 matches, bringing composure and experience to the Dees’ forward mix.
“We are really pleased Jake will be pulling on the red and blue for another year,” Melbourne AFL List Manager Tim Lamb said.
“Jake has had a terrific season, where his experience and leadership have shone through. He has been a reliable and consistent contributor up forward for us, kicking his most ever goals in a season, all while continuing to help and develop those around him.
“Jake’s dedication to his craft is first-class and we look forward to having him play another important role for us in 2026.”
Playing his first game for the year in Round 4, Melksham finished his 2025 campaign with two five-goal hauls, adding to his count of 221 majors across 248 appearances.
A former Bomber, the 33-year-old was drafted with pick No.10 in the 2009 National Draft and played 114 matches before becoming a Demon in 2016.
