DEMONS vice-captain Jack Viney will again press for selection after a month on the sidelines with concussion and a hand fracture.
Viney's stint in the outer could come to an end in time for the hard nut to make the trip to Adelaide before Melbourne’s Round 15 bye.
“Jack has recovered well from surgery on his hand and returned to conditioning and light ball work,” AFL High Performance Manager Selwyn Griffith said.
“The plan is to integrate him into training this week, and we’ll assess his availability for this weekend’s game based on how his contact and skills training go."
Uncapped Demon Oliver Sestan will also need to prove his fitness for this weekend’s action.
“Ollie sustained a low-grade hamstring strain during training last week,” Griffith said.
“He’s progressed well during rehab and he’ll look to integrate back into training this week with his availability to be determined closer to game day.”
Charlie Spargo is now under a month away from a return following his shoulder blade injury.
“Charlie has progressed into skill work away from the group and continues to work hard from a conditioning perspective,” Griffith said.
“At this stage, he’s still not ready for contact but we’ll reassess that further after the bye.”
Shane McAdam and Andy Moniz-Wakefield remain sidelined for the remainder of the season with their Achilles and ACL injuries respectively.
