MELBOURNE and Collingwood will do battle in front of a packed MCG this Monday, with the King’s Birthday game officially a sell-out.
Remaining tickets to the blockbuster clash were snapped up over the weekend, with a record-breaking crowd of more than 85,000 set to fill the stands, in support of Neale Daniher AO and his fight against Motor Neurone Disease.
Those fortunate enough to secure a spot are encouraged to be in their seats by 2pm; Big Freeze 11 action will kick off shortly after, with the customary sliders, including former Demon Aaron Davey, hitting the ice for the important cause.
Following the fun, a special pre-match moment will take place, with attendees given the opportunity to honour Neale and recognise his remarkable courage, devotion and decade-long efforts.
It promises to be an iconic ‘I was there’ celebration, in front of a sea of red and blue, and thousands of blue beanies.
Melbourne interim CEO David Chippindall spoke to the significance of the game for the Demon faithful, and encouraged the red and blue to turn up for one of their own.
“Dees fans have been standing behind Neale, in their blue beanies, since the first Big Freeze back in 2015. It’s a moment that makes all Melbourne people feel proud to belong.” Chippindall said.
“This year, we will have a unique opportunity to truly celebrate Neale, and what he’s done, not only for the Melbourne Football Club but for FightMND.
“We’re hoping to break a record for the biggest Big Freeze crowd of all time, and need all the members, AFL members and MCC members to show up. If there’s one message, let’s show up for Neale.”
Dees fans can start their day at Federation Square, where Melbourne players, President Brad Green and the Daniher family will join the crowd from 10am, before starting the Zurich Walk to the ‘G.
Gates open from 12pm for the Melbourne Cricket Club and 12.30pm for the general public.
Those wishing to donate to FightMND can do so by grabbing a Digital Beanie at bigfreeze.com.au.
General Public tickets for the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership Season match – Melbourne v Collingwood on Monday, 9th June at the MCG are sold out. This match is a fully ticketed event, with no further tickets to be released.
