IN her inaugural season as Melbourne’s skipper, Kate Hore has been recognised by her peers, named the AFL Players’ Association’s Best Captain for 2023.

Taking the reins from long-time Demon Daisy Pearce, Hore embraced the new-found responsibility and made an instant impact on the club.

Hore’s leadership shone both on and off the field, working closely with coach Mick Stinear to help the Dees to their third consecutive finals series.

She provided strong performances week-in, week-out, the Demon putting together a career-best campaign where she kicked 20 goals across 12 games.

The crafty forward became the second player in league history to reach this goal tally, earning her the title of leading goal-kicker alongside teammate Eden Zanker. She also led the league for average score involvements with 6.5 a game.
