NARRM could see the return of up to five Demons this weekend as it prepares to face top-two side North Melbourne.

Sam Batterton, AFLW Head of High-Performance, provided an update on the quintet of players who are all facing fitness tests ahead of Saturday’s match.

Paxy Paxman, who’s been sidelined for two weeks with a concussion, has moved through the required protocols in the hopes to return for Round 8.

“Paxy’s ticked off her markers, so she’ll resume training with the main group,” Batterton told Narrm Media.

“If she gets through the week, she’ll be available.”

Tayla Harris spent a week on the sidelines with hamstring soreness but is hopeful to be back ahead of the top-four clash.

“Tayla returned to running last week and continued that over the weekend,” Batterton said.

“She’ll integrate into training with the group this week and will test to be available.”

Maddi Gay also missed Narrm’s match on Sunday, with the club opting to manage the Demon ahead of the backend of the season.

“Similar to what happened earlier in the season, we’re looking after her, she had quite an interrupted pre-season,” Batterton said.

“She’ll train with the main group this week and will look to be available for selection in Round 8.”

Lauren Pearce is working through a shoulder injury sustained during Narrm’s match against Adelaide.

“Loz had that AC joint sprain and didn’t get up [for the game] last week, she was still a little bit too sore,” Batterton said.

“She put together a good session on the weekend, so she’ll also join training with the main group in some capacity today and look to do some more on Thursday to be available.”

Gab Colvin was ruled out of Round 7 following Thursday night’s training but will join the previously mentioned Demons in a fitness test prior to this weekend.

“Gab is managing an Achilles tendon issue…it flared up late last week which meant she didn’t get up for the weekend,” Batterton said.

“She’ll resume running and loading today and then hopefully look to rebound and train on Thursday.”
