KEY forward Josh Schache has signed a one-year deal that will see him stay at Melbourne until the end of 2024.

The 26-year-old joined the Demons from the Bulldogs during the 2022 AFL Sign and Trade Period and has tallied 74 games across his career to date.

Schache – who stands at 199cm – has impressed in the VFL this season, with his versatility up forward and in the ruck a standout.

Across 13 games for Casey, he has kicked 29 goals while averaging 14 disposals and five hitouts a match.

Schache has also featured twice at senior level in 2023; most recently being called up in Melbourne’s Round 23 win over Hawthorn.

Tim Lamb, Melbourne List Manager, praised Schache’s ability to grow and hunger to improve all areas of his game.

“Since arriving at our club, Josh has fitted into our program seamlessly,” Lamb told Melbourne Media.

“He is a wonderful person and has been a super consistent performer at VFL level this year.

“He is continuing to improve in all areas of his game and whilst he hasn’t had much opportunity at senior level thus far, we are extremely confident in his ability to step in and perform when called upon.

“We look to seeing Josh continue to grow and improve with us.”

Schache joins youngster Matthew Jefferson and Taj Woewodin in recently signing on with the club.
