MELBOURNE forward Tom McDonald will face an extended period on the sidelines after suffering a low-grade Lisfranc injury.

After consulting with multiple surgeons, the club has decided the best course of action is for McDonald to have a small plate inserted across the joint in his foot.

The 29-year-old will begin his rehabilitation program with the hope to return in the latter stages of the season.

Harry Petty sustained a knock to his shoulder during the Demons’ loss to Sydney last weekend, with scans revealing a low-grade AC joint sprain.

The key defender will look to train with the group later in the week and aim to be available for the Queen’s Birthday clash with the Magpies.

In other news, Fraser Rosman missed Casey’s VFL match on Saturday with hamstring soreness, and despite increasing his training loads this week, he will likely sit out one more game.

Watch below as Performance Manager Selwyn Griffith provides an update on the club’s full injury list.
