MELBOURNE coach Steven King has called Melbourne's newest mid-season recruits to welcome them to the club.

The Demons selected Lukas Cooke, Joel Fitzgerald and Max Mapley in the mid-season rookie draft, replacing Shane McAdam and Tom Campbell (retirement) and Jai Culley (ACL) for season 2026.

Fitzgerald was at training for VFL club Williamstown at the time of the draft and not near his phone for King's call.
