THIRTEEN games, two NAB AFL Rising Star nominations: not a bad start to Luke Jackson’s career.

The Demons’ young forward – or ruck, or midfielder, if you like – has shown incredible versatility in the early part of his time at the club.

Standing at 198cm, Jackson’s ability to compete in the air, but then follow up at ground level, has been the standout, racking up a career-high 22 disposals against North Melbourne on Sunday afternoon.

His performance, which also featured seven hit-outs, six score involvements and a goal, was deemed the best of the young guns in the league across Round 7.

It was these efforts which helped spark Melbourne’s 30-point come-from-behind win at Blundstone Arena, as Jackson displayed the significant growth made in his second season at the level.

The former No.3 draft pick also received a Rising Star nomination in Round 10 last year, but after only playing six games in his debut season, he remained eligible to win the award in 2021.
