WHAT the winners said the 2011 Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott Memorial Trophy dinner …

Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott Memorial Trophy (winner): Brent Moloney (227 votes)
“I thought Chip [James Frawley] or Riv [Jared Rivers] were going to come over the top of me. It’s another year gone and another year without finals. And it kills me to watch the finals the last couple of weeks - it absolutely kills me. I think why does Joel Selwood play finals? Why does he get that opportunity?  [That’s] because he plays at a club with a strong culture and that’s what we need to build on and with Mark Neeld on board, the future looks bright.”

Sid Anderson Memorial Trophy (runner-up): Jared Rivers (201)
“It’s truly an honour to win the Sid Anderson award. He’s a champion player of the club. It’s been a tough year for us all, but with a new coach on board, everyone is really excited and looking forward to next year.”

Ron Barassi Snr Memorial Trophy (third): James Frawley (178)
“I’m really honoured. It’s been a pretty tough year, but I’m happy to have a new coach on board in Neeldy [Mark Neeld] and Misso [David Misson]. I’m looking forward to getting on the track and improving and getting better.”

Ivor Warne-Smith Memorial Trophy (fourth): Nathan Jones (171)
“It’s been a bloody tough year and a lot of ups and downs. I look forward to 2012 and I’ve been really impressed with Mark Neeld and Misso so far, so I’m pretty excited, but a little bit nervous. I think all players have been put on their toes, so it’ll be a big pre-season ahead. And I look forward to next year.”

Dick Taylor Memorial Trophy (fifth): Jack Trengove (170)
“It’s a great group of blokes and I hope everyone is really excited about the new few years, because we’ve got the potential, but there is still a lot of hard work to do. As long as we work hard, hopefully the success will be there.”

Troy Broadbridge Memorial Trophy (highest votegetter by Melbourne-listed player in Casey Scorpions best and fairest): Matthew Bate
“It’s a great honour to accept this award on behalf and in memory of Troy Broadbridge. His name will always be in the heart of everyone here.”

Norm Smith Memorial Trophy (coach’s award): Jordie McKenzie
“It’s a great honour, especially with this award being named after Norm Smith. It’s a real privilege as a young kid to get an award named after such a legend of the club. It’s a real pat on the back, so I’m very grateful.”

Ron Barassi Jnr Trophy (leadership award): Jack Grimes
“It’s an honour to accept this award and I’d like to thank the players and coaches for giving me the opportunity to be in the leadership group this year. I’ve learned a lot and it’s been a pretty big year to say the least, especially on someone like Brad Green, who has copped a fair bit of flak, but he’s done an absolutely marvelous job. [He’s done] a lot of work behind the scenes that most of you guys don’t see - he’s been fantastic this year. He’s really kept the group together.”

Harold Ball Memorial Trophy (best first year player): Jeremy Howe
“A big thanks to all of the boys this year - they made it a lot easier to fit in and they made it comfortable and I believe that made my footy a lot better.”

Ian Ridley Memorial Trophy (club ambassador award): Colin Garland
“This club has a huge community focus in many ways, which comes from the leadership of the club - Jimmy [Stynes] and Cameron Schwab. We’ve seen the affect you can have as an AFL footballer and what Jimmy has done with Reach. It’s a real inspiration in that way and out community department doesn’t get much acclaim, but it’s hardworking and it’s led by Deb Lee, who was a good women’s footballer, and Glenn Balmforth and Renee Dobson.”

Heart and Soul Player Award: Jordie McKenzie
“It’s definitely an award I hold very highly. I remember it was only a couple of years ago when I rolled in and I looked around a bit star struck … I still pinch myself over the last few years and to now get this award is a dream come true.”
