MELBOURNE is confident is can rectify several matters in relation to its VFL alignment with Casey Scorpions.
Chief executive Cameron Schwab said the club had been working through a range of subjects with Casey for a period of time, but was optimistic they could be settled in the near future.
“Following recent media speculation, the Melbourne Football Club can confirm that we are continuing discussion with AFL Victoria and the Casey Scorpions in relation to our future VFL alignment,” he told melbournefc.com.au.
“The discussions have been ongoing for the past few months as we set to resolve a number of issues.
“The Melbourne Football Club continues to favor a ‘Community Club’ model in the City of Casey, which we believe achieves both our player development and club growth objectives. This arrangement is strongly supported by our coaching staff.
“We are hopeful that this matter will be finalised shortly.”
