CHRISTIAN Petracca’s dominant midfield display didn’t go unnoticed in Round 2.

The 24-year-old polled 10 votes from the coaches, elevating him up the leader board for the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award.

In Melbourne’s one-point win over the Blues, Petracca shone with 24 disposals, seven score involvements, five clearances and two goals.

His 10-possession opening term got the Dees off to a flyer, seeing them take a 32-point lead into the first break, as his influence exceeded anyone else’s on the field.

Of course, Petracca couldn’t do it on his own, feeding off the craft of ruckman Max Gawn.

The Dees skipper dominated both in the air and at ground level, with 34 hit-outs, 21 disposals and seven intercepts at Marvel Stadium, earning him eight votes from the coaches.

Clayton Oliver (28 disposals) and Christian Salem (21 disposals) were the other Demons recognised for their efforts.
