MELBOURNE’S premier community program; Read and Write Like a Demon has been completed in Casey with a gala day held at Casey Fields.

Melbourne players Michael Newton and Rohan Bail were on hand to congratulate students on their participation and announce the winners of the Demons Day Out Competition.

Jada, from Thomas Mitchell Primary School, was the lucky winner of the competition with her story ‘The Love Story’ chosen for its well written and positive themes.

Jada’s prize was locker room access to see Melbourne warm-up before a game at the MCG. She can bring her whole class to watch the Demons play!

The 12 schools from the Casey Shire have been involved in the Read and Write Like a Demon program and students have benefited from becoming more engaged in reading or writing, through the Casey Library and their fantastic Community Engagement Librarian, Cenza Fulco.

More than 150 students have now completed the program and were encouraged to post a review on the readlikeademon.blogspot.com.

Throughout the program more than 200 reviews have been posted, Tony from St Agatha’s was drawn as the ‘reviewer of the year’ and received a Zac Power game and show bag from Program Partner Officeworks, Supporting Partner Hardie Grant Publishing and the Melbourne Football Club.

A student from each school was chosen to read a review or present to the whole group a summary of what they had learnt over the Read and Write Like a Demon sessions.

All students that presented to the room of 200 people were fantastic.
They displayed confidence and great presenting skills, two students presented without any notes and did a wonderful job.

All students and young Demons fans have an opportunity to win a signed Colin Garland jumper, by jumping on readlikeademon.blogspot.com and posting a review in the month of July!

So keep reading and start posting!
