MELBOURNE could receive a selection boost in time to face the Suns with ruck Jacinta Hose cleared for selection and the dynamic Shelley Heath-Barker facing a fitness test.

Hose injured her ankle on debut in Round 1 against the Hawks, following ACL and back struggles in her first two seasons at the club.

Heath-Barker missed last week’s clash with Collingwood after leaving Melbourne’s loss to North Melbourne with a calf concern.

“Shelley is tracking really well through her rehab of a calf injury,” AFLW High Performance Manager Josh Keily said.

“She’ll re-integrate into training this week and will face a fitness test prior to our match against Gold Coast on Saturday.”

Captain Kate Hore will miss a second match as the club investigates her neck concern.

“Kate will be unavailable for selection this week as we continue to let her symptoms settle,” Keily said.

“We’re seeking further information from specialists before putting a timeline on her return.”

Irish Demon Sinead Goldrick is closing in on her return following her MCL injury.

“We’ll look to integrate Sinead into some modified training this week with the aim to fully train next week,” Keily said.

“We’re hoping she’ll be available for selection when we face Richmond in Round 10.”

Injured duo Amelia Dethridge (knee) and Chloe Baker-West have both returned to running, with first-year Dee Baker-West completing an Alter-G treadmill session.

“Chloe is tracking really well through her rehab of a leg injury,” Keily said.

“She’s hitting great strength in the gym and has now completed an Alter-G run.”

“Amelia ticked off her first run this week which is a really positive step for her,” Keily said.

“We’ll look to build her running loads now as she enters into her final few weeks of rehab.”

Defender Saraid Taylor has experienced more difficulty with her troublesome calf.

“Unfortunately, Saraid has reaggravated her complex calf injury,” Keily said.

“We will look to reintroduce her to running this week.”

Eliza McNamara (jaw), Lauren Clifton (foot) and Grace Beasley (ACL) all continue to work through their respective rehab programs.
