SHELLEY Heath-Barker is set for a short stint on the sidelines after injuring her calf on Friday.
During Melbourne’s match against North Melbourne in Round 7, Heath-Barker was removed from the game at three-quarter time, with AFLW High Performance Manager Josh Keily providing an update on the midfielder.
“Shelley had some calf awareness during the game,” Keily said.
“Following the match, it was revealed that she had sustained a calf injury. She’ll now look to enter into her rehab program, with the aim to return to running next week.”
In positive news for duo Jacinta Hose and Saraid Taylor, the two will face fitness tests with eyes on a return to footy this week.
“Jacinta and Saraid will continue to build their training loads this week,” Keily said.
“Both will aim to train fully on Thursday, with the hopes to be available for selection in Round 8.”
Defender Sinead Goldrick has hit an important milestone in her return from an MCL injury.
“Sinead has ticked off her first run over the weekend,” Keily said.
“She’s also started integrating into some skills, so now we’ll look to build up her loads over the next fortnight.”
Similarly, Amelia Dethridge will look to make further progression in her rehab of a meniscus injury.
“Amelia has started her run prep and is continuing to tick off her strength milestones,” Keily said.
“She’ll aim to return to running at the backend of this week.”
Lauren Clifton continues to recover from her foot injury which she sustained during Round 6.
“Lauren is in the early stages of her recovery from a foot injury,” Keily said.
“We’re letting symptoms settle before we begin ramping up her rehab program.”
Eliza McNamara (jaw), Grace Beasley (ACL) and Chloe Baker-West (leg) all continue to work through their respective rehab programs.
