It wasn't the finish Casey wanted as its 2026 VFLW season came to an end, with the Demons going down to Sandringham in their final game of the year.

Sandringham made the stronger start, establishing an early lead before Casey found its rhythm as the afternoon progressed.

The Demons responded strongly in the second quarter and continued to compete throughout the contest, outscoring Sandringham in both the second and fourth terms. Casey's final score was also its highest since its Round 1 victory over the Tasmania Devils, providing a positive note to finish the season on.

Up forward, Alyssia Pisano led the way with two goals, while Tahlia Fellows and Alice Robinson also found the big sticks as Casey looked dangerous when it was able to move the ball forward.

Tylah Burn was once again influential around the ground, finishing with 22 disposals, 14 tackles and six clearances as she continued to provide plenty of pressure through the midfield.

Jess Pacevski and Meg MacDonald also battled hard in the middle. Pacevski finished with nine tackles and five clearances, while MacDonald collected 10 tackles and three clearances, as well as hitting the scoreboard with a goal.

There were plenty of positives to take from the defensive end, with AFLW-listed Lauren Clifton showing strong moments in her first VFLW appearance for the season, finishing with six intercept possessions and helping Casey repel Sandringham's forward entries.

It was also a memorable afternoon for Gemma Cowin, who made her VFLW debut. Competing strongly up forward, Cowin took a strong contested mark and showed plenty of promise in her first game at the level.

While the 2026 season didn't deliver the wins and losses the Demons were hoping for, the group continued to show its character and commitment throughout the year.

The strength of the Casey group was evident in its connection, with players continuing to compete for one another and embrace every opportunity to pull on the red and blue.

As the curtain comes down on the 2026 VFLW season, there is plenty for this group to be proud of as it looks to build on the foundations laid throughout the year.
