MELBOURNE forward Jacob van Rooyen has had his three-match suspension upheld at the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday night.

The Demon forward received the sanction after making contact with the head of Aliir Aliir during a marking contest on Saturday Night during the club's Round 23 clash with the Power. 

The decision comes after the club contested the Match Review Officer’s grading of incident as careless conduct, high impact and severe impact, which was upheld by the Tribunal.
