HARRISON Petty has made strong progress in his recovery from a low-grade hamstring strain ahead of Melbourne's return from its mid-season bye.
Petty completed high-intensity conditioning prior to the break, with Melbourne AFL High Performance Manager Selwyn Griffith saying the club would assess his return-to-play timeline once training resumes.
“Harrison has progressed really well from his low-grade hamstring strain,” Griffith said.
“He was able to complete some high-intensity conditioning prior to going on our mid-season break.
“We'll look to integrate him back into training once we return and determine his return to play.”
Christian Salem is also closing in on a return from the foot fracture that has sidelined him in recent weeks.
“Christian continues to progress well from the foot fracture,” Griffith said.
“He integrated into main training prior to the bye.
“The plan will be for him to reintegrate into the main group following the bye, with him hoping to be available one to two weeks after the return from the bye.”
Caleb Windsor returned without issue after being managed the previous week.
"Caleb Windsor successfully returned after being managed the previous week and got through the game without any issues," Griffith said.
Aidan Johnson successfully returned through the VFL on modified minutes prior to the bye and will continue to build his game time over the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Jed Adams has continued to progress through conditioning and skills work as he eyes a return to non-contact training with the main group.
Lukas Cooke has recovered well following facial surgery after sustaining a facial fracture against Collingwood and has returned to running, although he will remain in a non-contact environment for at least the next three weeks.
Xavier Lindsay also continues to make progress in his recovery from a hip and groin issue.
