SINEAD Goldrick becomes the second Demon to be selected in the inaugural 2026 NAB AFLW Australia vs Ireland match.

Goldrick has been named in the Irish squad today, providing the opportunity to represent her country on the big stage.

The 36-year-old midfielder is one of 46 Irish players across the AFLW competition.

Goldrick joined the Demons from Ireland in 2020 and has played 61 games for the club, earning a reputation as the epitome of a cross-code athlete after competing at the highest level in both Australian Rules football and Gaelic football.

Traditionally a defender, Goldrick’s fierce playing style, speed and defensive pressure have also seen her develop into a versatile midfielder, capable of impacting games across both lines.

Goldrick captained Dublin in the 2014 All-Ireland Senior Ladies Football Championship final before helping the side claim premierships in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Goldrick has been awarded the Irish equivalent to an All-Australian in the Ladies Gaelic Football Association All Star Award on eight different occasions, a testament to her skill and professionalism.

Following Sunday’s announcement that Kate Hore will represent Australia, Goldrick will come head-to-head with her current captain in the first representative match in AFLW since 2017.

The remainder of the Australian team will be announced in the coming days.

The highly anticipated Australia v Ireland match will take place at North Sydney Oval on August 1.
