Melbourne forward Paddy Cross has re-signed with the Demons for a further year, extending his contract until the end of 2027 and earning an upgrade to the club’s senior list.
Cross joined Melbourne’s AFL list during the 2026 pre-season supplemental selection period and has made an immediate impact at the top level.
The 23-year-old has played eight games this season and kicked six goals, including the crucial snap that gave the Demons the lead in the Round 13 King’s Birthday win against Collingwood.
Melbourne AFL List Manager Tim Lamb said Cross’s list upgrade was a reward for his hard work and development.
“Paddy has worked extremely hard to develop his game and his growth over the past few years has been impressive,” Lamb said.
“His pressure, versatility and willingness to play his role have allowed him to make an immediate impact at AFL level.
“To see Paddy successfully transition from VFL to AFL has been really pleasing, and we’re excited about what he can continue to bring to our program.”
Cross made his AFL debut in Round 3 and has featured in every match since, aside from a brief stint on the sidelines with a thumb injury.
After a standout 2025 campaign with Melbourne’s VFL side, Cross was named the Casey Demons Rising Star after kicking 24 goals from 18 games, including a four-goal performance in an elimination final.
Cross played his junior football with Gippsland Power before building his reputation at Nar Nar Goon and the Casey Demons ahead of his AFL opportunity.
