The Casey Demons have fallen to the ladder-leading Collingwood, with the experienced Magpies showcasing why they sit atop the VFLW standings.

Casey competed strongly throughout the contest but found it difficult to generate consistent opportunities in attack, as Collingwood's pressure and ball movement limited the Dees' ability to produce quality inside 50 entries.

Facing a seasoned Magpies outfit featuring a number of former AFLW players, the young Demons side was tested across all four quarters. Collingwood's experience proved telling, particularly in transition, where they were able to capitalise on their opportunities.

Despite the result, there were still several positive individual performances for Casey.

Up forward, Alice Robinson provided the Dees with their only major of the afternoon, finishing calmly with a classy snap after creating space inside 50.

Abbey Rabot looked lively whenever the ball came her way, presenting strongly and threatening to hit the scoreboard. While she was unable to convert her chances, her work rate and ability to create opportunities stood out.

In the midfield, Meg Macdonald and Tylah Burn battled hard all day to keep Casey in the contest. Macdonald was influential around the stoppages, finishing with 21 disposals and seven clearances, while Burn's relentless defensive pressure was on full display as she collected 18 touches and laid an impressive 11 tackles. Their efforts helped Casey break even in the clearance battle against one of the competition's strongest midfield groups.

Under constant pressure in defence, Lily Snow and Kasey Phillips showed plenty of resilience. The pair worked tirelessly to repel repeated Magpie attacks, intercepting strongly and looking to generate run and carry from the back half whenever the opportunity arose.

While the final result wasn't the one Casey was chasing, the young side will take valuable lessons from the contest against one of the benchmark teams of the competition.

The Demons will now turn their attention to Round 5, where they'll look to bounce back with a strong performance against Essendon.
