MELBOURNE has named an extended squad ahead of its Round 12 clash with GWS in Alice Springs on Sunday afternoon.
The Dees have confirmed five additions to their 26-player side, with Brody Mihocek, Tom McDonald, Latrelle Pickett, Jack Henderson and Andy Moniz-Wakefield all entering the selection frame.
Melbourne’s final side will be confirmed tomorrow at 5pm (AEST).
Changkuoth Jiath makes way this week after pulling up sore following last weekend's clash against the Western Bulldogs.
“CJ has pulled up with some general soreness after the weekend’s game against the Bulldogs,” Richardson said.
“He will be managed this week and won’t play in Sunday’s game.
“We hope CJ will be able to return within the next couple of weeks.”
Jack Henderson has been named in the extended squad and could make his first AFL appearance of the season, while Moniz-Wakefield is a chance to return to the senior side after a strong showing in the VFL last weekend. Brody Mihocek also becomes available for selection following injury, with Tom McDonald and Latrelle Pickett remaining in the mix ahead of the trip north.
The Dees will take on the Giants at TIO Traeger Park, with first bounce set for 2:45pm (ACST) / 3:15pm (AEST).
The match marks another opportunity for Melbourne to play in the Northern Territory, with the club returning to Alice Springs as part of the AFL’s ongoing commitment to bringing elite football to the region.
The Northern Territory continues to hold a deep connection to Australian Rules Football, with matches across Darwin and Alice Springs showcasing the game’s significance within local communities, while also delivering AFL action to fans across the country.
