NARRM'S Kade Chandler has highlighted the importance of a four-quarter effort, following the Demons' three-point loss to the Dogs on Sunday.

“We need to be more consistent,” Chandler said.

"I think our best is unbelievable but I think we’ve got a bit of work to do on playing a full four quarters.

"We have been able to do it but today wasn’t up to that.

"I think it was simple, our game lacked fundamentals and [lacked] energy and intensity around the ball."

Despite the loss, Chandler praised his team's never-give-up attitude, scraping back a 33-point deficit in the second quarter.

“When we’re not playing our best, we’re still able to find a way,” Chandler said.

"We didn’t play very well in the first half, but we still only went into [the second half] eight points down.

"The boys just fight and scrap and play until the very end, even when it’s not going our way.

“The attitude of the team to just continue to keep digging our heels in, that’s been a staple of our game this year.”

Chandler himself has been putting together career-best performances, embracing a new hybrid role across the midfield and forward line.

“For me, I just want to keep playing my role," Chandler said.

"This is my eighth year at the club now, I’ve been around the club for a while and I feel like I know what makes my game tick.

"The way we’re playing this year has probably taken the lid off on what I’m able to do and I think I’ve been able to access my best this year.

"But the same thing for me today with lessons is that I’ve got to be able to be more consistent as well."
