NARRM'S AFL senior coach Steven King joined media on Wednesday morning ahead of his side's Round 11 match against the Western Bulldogs.

King discussed the return timelines of a number of injured Demons, the evolution of the Narrm game plan and the in-form players taking the step up.

ON BRODY MIHOCEK

“He's probably about a week away, so he’s tracking really well,” King said.

“It’s obviously a big week for him this week, but he's hit [high] speed and stuff, so he'll integrate back into some training this week and hopefully put his hand up for next week.”

ON CALEB WINDSOR

“He had a week off last week with a sore toe, he'll build this week but we’ll just see how he gets through today and then our main session will be on Friday.

Last week we were pretty conservative, and this week again, I think we'll get some feedback from how today goes and then Friday he’ll have to complete the whole session.

“We won't we won't take risk with Caleb, if he's not quite right, we'll give him an extra week.”

GAME PLAN EVOLUTION

"I think we've had games this year where it's probably just our method with ball-in-hand that actually gives our defence time to set up behind it," King said.

“We're just evolving as a team, getting a bit more comfortable with the way I want our team to play with our system.

"As I said all along, we’ll keep evolving as the year goes on and keep adding to our game, and I feel like that's part of it.

"We've had games this year where I feel like we haven't been too far off, but we've probably gifted the teams a few goals with some decisions or execution with ball-in-hand, which is always going to happen.

"But I feel like as we're evolving, we're setting the ground up a bit better."

ON DANIEL TURNER

"I gave him five coaches votes, I thought he was outstanding, it was probably one of the best games from a key defender, not only did he defend his opponent, but he turned defence into attack," King said.

“He's evolving in front of everyone's eyes, and to think he's only played, I think 40 games or something like that, and not all of them have been as a key back.

“What we’ve seen from him, it's been a credit to him and Jared Rivers, who does a lot of work with him defensively.

“His leadership capability too and the way he's leading the group, he's really taken ownership of that back half of the ground, and he's one of our emerging leaders that's really stepping up now and taking some load off Max Gawn and Jack Viney, which is great.”

ON THE BULLDOGS

"I know what their best looks like, and I think we're expecting and welcoming a response from them this week," King said.

"Their stoppage game and their contest game is usually at a really high level..and they do play well at Marvel.

"They have been hit with a few injuries in critical parts of the ground, which is well documented, but they've still got quality all throughout that team and we're expecting them at their best this week."
