MELBOURNE has broken its official membership record in the 2019 season, reaching 45,248 members on Friday morning.

The Demons surpassed last year’s tally of 45,178, making it the fourth consecutive year the club has registered a record number of members.

CEO Gary Pert said it was pleasing to be able to break the all-time figure, although there is still plenty of work to be done.

“This is a magnificent result for the entire Club as we keep our sights set on the target of 60,000 members,” he said.

The Demons welcomed over one million fans to their games in 2018 – a feat that positioned them fourth best in the league for match attendance.

Pert encouraged new fans, as well as those who are yet to renew their membership, to jump on board and be part of the record tally before the July 31 cut-off date.

“As a club we feel that there is still plenty of growth in our supporter base and urge everyone to sign up as members”
