OUTS – C. Jiath (injured), P. Cross (injured)
MELBOURNE has named an extended line-up for its Round 4 clash with Gold Coast at the MCG.
The Dees will again take to the MCG on Sunday afternoon, looking to build momentum in front of the Demon faithful.
Five potential inclusions headline the 26-player squad, with Daniel Turner, Bailey Laurie, Jake Melksham, Max Heath and Luker Kentfield all named in the extended side.
Turner returns after missing last week through a hand injury, while Melksham has been brought into the mix as Melbourne looks to strengthen its forward options.
Patrick Cross and Changkuoth Jiath have both been ruled out after sustaining injuries in Melbourne’s Round 3 win over Carlton.
“Unfortunately, CJ experienced some soreness in his calf during the game and was subsequently removed from play,” High Performance Manager Selwyn Griffith said.
“Scans have confirmed that he has suffered a low-grade soleus strain. He’ll now enter our rehab program, and we’ll further assess his availability in the coming days.
“Paddy had an incident involving his thumb late in the game and scans have unfortunately shown that he dislocated his thumb, which resulted in ligament tears.
“He consulted with a specialist and underwent surgery today. We’ll assess his return to play plan following wound clearance and further consultation with the surgeon.”
From the 26 players named, 23 will be selected in the final team, which will be confirmed tomorrow at 5pm (AEDT).
