The Casey Demons officially launched their 2026 campaign at the club’s season launch event, bringing together returning players and new recruits set to feature on this year’s VFL list.

The night provided an opportunity for the group to connect ahead of the year, with head coach Rhett McLennan addressing the room. Entering his first season at the helm, McLennan spoke about the standards he aims to set, the style of football he wants to implement, and his excitement around the potential of the playing group.

A key highlight of the evening was the jumper presentations, as each player was officially welcomed into the program for 2026. This was a significant moment for both new faces and returning Demons.

There is still time to sponsor a Casey VFL or VFLW player for the upcoming seasons, with any expressions of interest to be directed to Rachael Lewis via email at rachael.lewis@melbournefc.com.au or by phone on 5996 1111.

The event also saw the club unveil its leadership group for the upcoming campaign.

Deakyn Smith will once again lead the Demons as co-captain, this time alongside Riley Bonner. Smith, who led from the front in 2025, returns to the role, while Bonner’s addition brings further experience and composure to the leadership group.

Both players are highly respected at VFL level, with strong resumes and proven leadership qualities.Their presence on and off the field will be crucial in setting the tone for the group, with Smith’s off field leadership set to be particularly important early in the year as he spends time on the sidelines following a recent injury.

Supporting them will be a strong group of vice-captains, with Jesse Craven, Wardell Lual, Brayden LaPlanche and Tyson Sruk all named. Each has played an integral role within the program and will provide valuable leadership across all areas of the club.

Overall, it was a successful night that not only celebrated the beginning of a new campaign, but also reinforced the unity and direction of the group as the Demons look ahead to 2026.

The stage is set for 2026 — now it’s time for the Casey faithful to get behind the red and blue!
