JAKE BOWEY has showed his commitment to the red and blue, signing a contract extension until the end of the 2028 season.

The diminutive defender had a stellar 2025 season, averaging 22 disposals, three tackles, and 417 metres gained across his 23 games played.

He was rewarded with a fourth-place finish in Melbourne’s Best and Fairest count at the conclusion of the season.

Tim Lamb, Melbourne AFL List Manager, said the extension was an indication of the pivotal role that Bowey continues to play in the AFL program.

“Jake is developing into a key part of our backline, and is a real asset for us,” Lamp said.

“His ability to win contests, competitive drive, and the way he continues to strive to improve his game are all qualities that he exemplifies within our team.

“Although Jake has unfortunately suffered a recent injury setback, we are confident that he will approach his rehab with his customary professionalism, and we look forward to having him as a core part of our program in the years to come.”

The 23-year-old made his debut in Round 20 of 2021, and has played 84 careers games including the historic 2021 Premiership.
