MELBOURNE has farewelled Judd McVee, agreeing to a trade with Fremantle on Wednesday morning.

McVee, who has played 65 games across four seasons, will head home to Western Australia, with the Demons receiving pick No.23 in this year’s AFL Draft in return.

Melbourne AFL List Manager Tim Lamb thanked the 22-year-old for his contribution.

“There is no doubt that we wanted Judd to remain in the red and blue, but we respect his decision to return home to Western Australia,” Lamb said.

“Judd has developed significantly in our environment over the past four seasons, growing as both a player and person. We thank him for his contribution and wish him well for what lies ahead.”

McVee was selected by the Demons with pick No.22 in the 2021 AFL Rookie Draft. He spent his first year developing his craft in the VFL before making his senior debut in Round 1 of the 2023 AFL season.

The 2025 Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period concludes on Wednesday 15 October.
