TONIGHT, Melbourne honoured its year in the AFL, looking back on the season that was and crowning its Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott trophy winner - Max Gawn.

Throughout the evening, 10 awards were handed out, with a number of Demons celebrated for making an impact in 2025.

Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott Memorial Trophy | Max Gawn

For the third time in his career, Max Gawn has finished his season with a ‘Bluey’ in-hand. At the conclusion of the best and fairest count on Tuesday night, Gawn sat atop the leaderboard with 592 votes and was officially crowned the best and fairest Demon of 2025.

It’s no surprise that the skipper would be recognised for his stellar campaign across his 23 games this year, the ruck standing tall as a significant and consistent contributor among the Melbourne outfit.

This year, Gawn hit new levels to his game, averaging career-high stats in disposals (21), marks (six) and clearances (five). He was also as dependable as ever in the ruck, totaling 826 hit-outs.

This honour comes less than two weeks after Gawn was named as an eight-time All Australian, adding yet another accolade to his already stacked list.

Ron Barassi Senior Memorial Trophy | Kysaiah Pickett

In his highest ‘Bluey’ finish of his career, Kysaiah Pickett has been awarded the Ron Barassi Senior Memorial Trophy with 467 votes.

Pickett ends night in third place after what has been a career-best season for the Demon, thriving in a role that saw him have more responsibility in the midfield while remaining as one of the best small forwards in the league.

He averaged 20 disposals and two goals a game, the first player to do so since 2011 and kicked five goals on three separate occasions, proving again and again that his ability to impact a game is undeniable.

Ivor Warne Smith Memorial Trophy | Jake Bowey

Young defender Jake Bowey has been recognised for his 2025 season, finishing fourth in the best and fairest count with 459 votes.

This is the highest finish for Bowey in his career so far and comes after a year that saw the 22-year-old demonstrate composure beyond his years.

Dick Taylor Memorial Trophy | Christian Salem

Silky defender Christian Salem has finished fifth in the overall best and fairest count with 404 votes.

His reliable, consistent footy was once again on show this year, and although he may fly under the radar, as many defenders do, Salem was instrumental in many games for the red and blue, providing a stability exiting the backline.

Salem humbly played his role week-in week-out, averaging 22 disposals at 81% efficiency while also averaging close to eight marks.

Ian Ridley Memorial Trophy | Club Ambassador | Tom Campbell

Having only been at the club for one season, it hasn’t taken long for Tom Campbell to make his mark in the red and blue, named as the 2025 Club Ambassador.

The Club Ambassador trophy is given to the individual who makes a meaningful impact on not just those within the football world but on a broader landscape.

While being a positive role model for the young Demons within the AFL program, Campbell also spends time off the field working as the co-founder of not-for-profit Footy for Climate, as well as ambassadorships with Stand Up Events and Front Runners Athletes.

James McDonald Trophy | Trademark Player | Jake Melksham

Jake Melksham has been recognised for displaying the club’s values and carrying himself like a trademark Melbourne person, both on and off the field.

Named as the Trademark Player for 2025, this season saw Melksham notch up a career-high of 33 goals across 19 games, standing up in big moments when it counted most. Off the field, he was instrumental for the young cohort of Demons coming up the ranks in the forward line.

With a coaching career no doubt on the cards for his future, Melksham has continued to be a leading voice for Melbourne, this award a testament to his impact.

Norm Smith Memorial Trophy | Coaches Award | Daniel Turner

Daniel Turner’s 2025 has been acknowledged with the Coaches Award, playing his role to the best of his ability at every possible opportunity.

Over the past few seasons, Turner has spent time at both ends of the ground and this year was no different. Turner’s composure on-field saw him perform in any role and while he mostly excelled in the backline, averaging a career-high five intercepts, there were still plenty of moments where his forward craft shone.

He finished the season with an average of 12 disposals and six marks, alongside a total of seven goals across his 19 games.

The 19-year-old came into the program at the end of 2024 and was quick to make an impact, debuting in Round 1. He went on to finish the season with 22 AFL games under his belt, averaging 18 disposals a game and kicking a total of 14 goals.

His star power was solidified as early as Round 3, when he was nominated for the AFL Rising Star Award.

Kade Chandler has been awarded the Ron Barassi Jnr Memorial Trophy for his leadership in 2025.

The 25-year-old always strives to be the best teammate he can be and while his numbers may not shine off the stats sheet – averaging 14 disposals and kicking a total of 18 goals - his commitment to playing his role and leading the way is an important part of the Dees side.
