NEW - O’Hehir (AFLW debut), Mahony (AFLW debut), Ebert (AFLW debut)
MELBOURNE will head into Saturday night’s season opener with some fresh faces, welcoming debutants Molly O’Hehir, Maggie Mahony and Laela Ebert to the AFLW stage.
O’Hehir, the club’s first pick in the 2024 AFLW Draft at No.3, arrives from Western Australia with height, athleticism and a reputation as one of the most polished ball-users in her draft class.
Mahony impressed over pre-season with her pace, competitive edge and versatility, shifting from her junior midfield role into the forward line.
Ebert’s rise has been built on determination, joining Melbourne after a standout SANFLW campaign with North Adelaide that included a best-on-ground performance for the SANFLW state side.
Named as emergencies for the clash are Ryleigh Wotherspoon, Amelia Dethridge and Sinèad Goldrick, who will be called upon should late changes be required.
The Dees will face the Bulldogs under the lights at Mission Whitten Oval in a marquee Round 1 clash, as part of the Bulldogs’ Pioneers Party celebrating 10 seasons of AFLW and the trailblazers who shaped the women’s game.
