JACK Henderson continues to make positive strides in his recovery from a groin injury, and will face a fitness test ahead of this weekend’s clash with the West Coast Eagles.
“Jack had a really good week on track last week,” AFL High Performance Manager Selwyn Griffith said.
“We’ve been working with him on progressing back into some skills with the team, and he was able to do some of that last week.
“He also completed a recon session on the weekend. With the VFL having a bye, he’ll complete a training session this weekend, with the plan for him to be in full training and available next week.”
Meanwhile, Steven May is tracking well through the AFL’s concussion protocols.
“Mayzy progressed really well through the back end of last week,” Griffith said.
“He completed the incidental contact phase today; the next phase is full training at the end of this week.
“During his suspension, he’ll continue training with the team. Then once it’s served, we’re hopeful he’ll be available.”

Young forward Oliver Sestan is also tracking well in his recovery from a facial injury.
“Ollie has recovered really well. He is back into conditioning with the group and participating in non-contact skills.
“Next week he’ll look to integrate some contact training and then we’ll hopefully have him available for our Round 23 clash.”
There were also promising signs from Shane McAdam, who completed his first running session last week.
“Shane’s had a great couple of weeks and has really progressed well from a strength perspective,” Griffith said.
“That’s transferred into some of his power work, which allowed him to begin running last week.
“We’ll keep working on his conditioning capacity while also building strength and power through his gym work.”
Jake Lever also remains in rehab following an ankle issue, with continued focus on building strength and function.
“Jake’s been working tirelessly on his recovery,” Griffith said.
“He had a really good response to the injection, and now it’s about getting him back to the physical capacities needed to tolerate the demands of AFL football.
“He’s made some great progress across the last two sessions, but he’s still a little way off returning to skill work. Right now, we’re just focusing on building his capacities before reintroducing conditioning and skill.”

Achilles + Back |
TBC
“Jack has been working incredibly hard with our high performance and medical team to return from his Achilles surgery that he had earlier this year,” Griffith said. “Unfortunately, while working through his rehab from that surgery, Jack has also had a lower back concern, which is something that he’s managed over the last couple of seasons. “As a result of that lower back pain, he’s been progressing slower through his post-surgery rehab program. “Pleasingly, he has been able to progress from a strength and movement perspective through his lower back, which has now allowed him to continue through his Achilles rehab. “Jack has worked incredibly hard to get on top of both of these injuries and it’s really pleasing that he’s now starting to see some progression, with the hope to see more soon.” |
