MELBOURNE’S Marty Hore has undergone knee surgery, following injury sustained during the Casey Demons’ Round 14 loss to Gold Coast.
Hore, who ruptured his biceps tendon at People First Stadium last Saturday, also suffered damage to his left medial meniscus, with concern surrounding his anterior cruciate ligament.
Surgical assessment on Tuesday confirmed the 29-year-old had torn the ACL graft, requiring a full reconstruction.
Melbourne GM of AFL Football Performance Alan Richardson provided an update on Hore’s injuries
“Marty unfortunately sustained injuries to both his bicep and knee during last week’s VFL game,” Richardson said.
“Scans of his knee revealed a torn medial meniscus and suspected damage to his ACL. It was determined that, during the operation to repair his meniscus, he also required reconstruction of his ACL.
“This is incredibly disappointing news for Marty, particularly given how hard he has worked to get himself back to full fitness.
“It’s been a tough run, but he continues to face every challenge with maturity and determination. We know he will approach this latest setback with the same attitude and positivity he’s shown time and time again.
“Marty is a much loved and respected member of our playing group and he will get all the support and care he needs from the club and his teammates. In addition to this, his character, work ethic and commitment to the team are first class.”
Hore, who has played 20 senior games in the red and blue, sustained an ACL injury in the same knee, back in 2021. This season has seen him battle a calf injury and fracture to his hand.
