The Casey Demons have secured a 29-point win over Essendon at ETU Stadium, holding strong through a tense second half to come away with the 17.10 (112) to 12.11 (83) victory.

The Demons came out firing early, piling on five first-quarter goals to Essendon’s one, and held a 12-point lead at halftime. But the Bombers surged in the third term, levelling the scores and setting the stage for a nail-biting final quarter.

With the game on the line, Casey responded in dominant fashion, booting seven final-quarter goals and showcasing their class when it mattered most. It was a strong team effort, underlined by their composure, physicality, and willingness to work for one another in the contest.

One of the standout stories of the day was debutant Kalani White, son of former Demon Jeff White. The young star made an immediate impact, kicking two goals and proving a commanding presence both in the ruck and inside 50. His aerial contests and footy IQ belied his inexperience and added an exciting new dimension to the Casey line-up.

Paddy Cross led the scoreboard with four goals, while Mitch Hardie and Matthew Jefferson also finished with two apiece. A host of others chimed in with singles, showcasing the forward line’s depth and versatility.

Riley Bonner led all comers with 33 disposals, continuing his consistent form across half-back. Bailey Laurie (26 disposals) and Jack Billings (22) were also instrumental in driving the ball forward, while Will Verrall and Kynan Brown provided plenty of run and support.

The win continues Casey’s momentum in the back half of the season, as they look to solidify their position on the VFL ladder and push toward finals.
