The Casey Demons were unable to match Carlton's pressure and efforts in Round 7, going down by 40 points in a tough hit out at Casey Fields. The visitors controlled the contest from the outset and maintained their speed and ball control throughout, running out 9.2 (56) to 2.4 (16) winners.

Casey struggled to generate offensive momentum in the early stages, managing just a single behind in the opening half while Carlton piled on five goals to take a commanding 30-point lead into the main break.

The Demons lifted in the second half, showing patches of improved ball movement and forward pressure. Jo Lin and Charlotte Hammans both hit the scoreboard with goals in the third and fourth quarters, providing some reward for effort after a challenging start.

Despite the scoreboard, Meg Macdonald was again a standout for Casey, racking up 25 disposals and battling hard through the midfield. She was supported by Sophie Casey (17 disposals) and Tylah Burn (16), with Tegan Williams and Ella Morris (14 each) also contributing around the contest.

Carlton’s quick ball movement and efficiency inside 50 proved too much across four quarters, exposing gaps in Casey’s defensive structures and limiting opportunities to effectively.

While the result was disappointing, the second-half highlights the Demons persistence and on-going efforts and will be looking to regroup and bounce back with renewed intensity next round.
