In the aftermath of an intense Round 6 performance, VFL coach Taylor Whitford offers his insightful reflections on the contributions of AFL-listed players and a couple of VFL players within the Casey Demons' ranks on Sunday.

Whitford provided a player-by-player analysis, highlighting key moments, standout performances, and areas for improvement.

Jed Adams (10 disposals, seven kicks, four marks)

"Jed had a solid day in his defensive positioning and ability to set the ground up for us. This has been a big work on for him, so it's great that we can see this improvement. Something that Jed has prided himself on is his aerial contest, which on the weekend was below what we've seen from him lately. He'll be looking to bounce back this week and put in a strong all-around performance."

Kynan Brown (One goal, 17 disposals, 10 tackles, four clearances)

"Kynan came away from last week's game against Richmond with some clear areas of improvement in his role as a half-forward. Pleasingly, he was able to implement this learning straight away and performed strongly. He played big minutes in the second half as a midfielder, collecting ten tackles and having four clearances."

Tom Fullarton (One behind, 11 disposals, 10 hits outs)

"Tom played again between up forward and in the ruck. He is seeking consistency in his game, especially in his ruck craft and impact at centre bounce, and is working really hard with Gregg Stafford around this. What we do see is that he adds another element to our ground-level game when he's following up and hunting the ball."

Lachie Hunter (Four disposals, three kicks, three marks)

"Lach only played the first half due to the tight turnaround in AFL scheduling this week. It was great to see him back running strongly and providing defensive support as a winger."

Matthew Jefferson (3 goals, 13 disposals, five marks)

"I thought Jeffo set himself up really well this week, resulting in a strong performance. He had five shots on goal and ten score involvements, but it was the second efforts in the contest and his speed on offence and defence that enabled him to have that impact. It's about him staying consistent now and putting a block of those performances together."

Shane McAdam (3 disposals, two kicks, one mark)

"Unfortunately, Shane only played parts of the first quarter on the weekend. He succumbed to illness and just couldn't compete at the level required on the field. Hopefully, Shane recovers well, and we will see him back in action this weekend."

Andy Moniz-Wakefield (30 disposals, 23 kicks, seven marks)

"Andy was prominent behind the footy on the weekend. Undoubtedly his strongest performance since moving to halfback, we were able to see his strengths of his speed and contest-winning ability on show. Andy finished with 30 possessions, although it was the 10 contested possessions and 7 rebounds that were most pleasing."

Oliver Sestan (One behind, 14 disposals, 11 kicks, seven clearances)

"What I'm liking about Ollie is that we're starting to see more consistency in his performances, in particular, his work rate and ability to get to more contests. He played bigger minutes as a midfielder on the weekend, finishing with five clearances."

Koltyn Tholstrup (12 disposals, six tackles, four clearances)

"Kolt was a little lower on possession this week, but we were really pleased with Koltyn's game because of his patterns and work rate as a midfielder. We know he's a contested player, strong in clearance and tackling, but it was his contest decisions and work rate that was most pleasing."

Adam Tomlinson (22 disposals, 17 kicks, eight marks, seven tackles)

"Tommo had another really solid performance. His game is based on his defensive contest, but it's been his positioning that has allowed him to win the ball back for us consistently. He continues to drive really high standards for our group."

Will Verrall (19 disposals, five tackles, 23 hit outs, six clearances)

"Will had a big battle on his hands in the ruck against Tom Downie, who is a mature and significant ruckman in the VFL competition. Although Downie probably won this battle, Will fought on really well, finishing with 17 disposals, six clearances and 23 hitouts. A key learning for Will is against these types of ruckmen how he can maximise his ability to get around the ground and become and outnumber for us on the ground."

Some VFL Players to watch:

Mitch White (One goal, 21 disposals, seven tackles, four clearances)

"Whitey was back to his best on the weekend. We have asked him to play multiple roles for us over the first month to fill some needs, and as skipper, there's no hesitation in putting the team above himself. On the weekend, he was back playing as an inside mid, winning plenty of the hard ball for us, finishing with a nice snap on goal."

Tyler Edwards (One goal, 21 disposals, 16 kicks, five clearances)

"Playing a new role on the weekend as a midfielder, 'Teddy' more than held his own against some experienced players in (Will) Fordham and (Riley) Collier-Dawkins. He finished with 21 disposals and a goal, which is a great confidence booster for him and shows he's more than capable of playing that role in the future for us."

Casey faces a quick turnaround as they gear up for round 7 of the Smithy's VFL against the Blues this Friday night at IKON Park. With only a few days to recover and prepare. The anticipation is high as they aim to hit the ground running, with the first bounce scheduled for 5:10 PM. Every minute counts as Casey fine-tunes their strategy and prepares to give their all on the field under the Friday night lights.
